Stan Roberts & Assoc., Inc. was
founded by Stan and Blanche Roberts in 1970. They endured the inevitable
struggles of giving birth to a new business. They were able to build the
business while their eldest son (Toby), served in Vietnam, their two
middle children (Gary and Melinda) attended college, and their youngest
son (Carl), was in elementary school. Their relentless work ethics and
ability to "multitask", before anyone knew the definition of
the term, kept their little company alive.
Stan and Blanche grew up in the West Texas town of San Angelo. As
high school sweethearts, they were able to overcome the difficult times
of the "Great Depression". Blanche graduated at the top of her
class and Stan, a relentless daredevil, joined the Air Force in 1941. He
quickly climbed the ranks to Lieutenant where he served in Germany on
the B17. He was appointed as a Bombardier and flew missions over Germany
during World War II. On April 29, 1944 Stan’s B17 was shot down by
Luftwaffe fighters. Stan and his crew (2 were killed-all wounded) had to
bail out of their aircraft into enemy fire before being captured by the
Germans. Stan served as a Prisoner of War until he was liberated on
April 29, 1945 in Moosberg, Germany.
Upon his return from Germany, Stan married Blanche in 1945. They
moved to Kingsville, TX where Stan received a Bachelor degree in Latin
American History and Economics from Texas A&I (now Texas
A&M-Kingsville), while working on the King Ranch. After graduating,
he spent time working at A.Y. McDonald in Dallas before becoming the
number one salesman for Tyler Pipe and Foundry during the 1950’s and
1960’s. During that time, Blanche was raising their four children.
In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s Plastics became widely used
throughout the United States. Stan decided to open Stan Roberts &
Assoc., Inc. to help supply wholesale distributors with PVC pipe and
fittings. Early on, the company was in desperation and near bankruptcy.
The company was saved when Stan asked Blanche to come work at Stan
Roberts & Assoc., Inc. While Stan made the sales calls, Blanche
managed the finances. Although Blanche was not a licensed CPA, she was
unmatched when it came to accounting skills and practices. Blanche was
the heart and force that kept Stan Roberts’ company growing. The
Company needed quality employees, and no need to look far. Stan and
Blanche hired two of their sons, Toby and Gary in 1972. Their other two
children, Carl and Melinda, later joined the team. The rest they say
"Is History".
Stan and Blanche Roberts have been instrumental in molding the
manufactures representative industry into what it is today. Their honest
communication with their factories, their dedication to their customers,
and their devotion to their employees, has always been the key to their
success. Their love of one another and their love of their company show
why they have earned the respect of the industry. Stan Roberts &
Assoc., Inc. is still, and will always continue to showcase these same
qualities.
